TECHNICAL SUPPORT

PC Training CD Users:

1. To play a movie you need to either double click a movie link, or highlight a link and click the play button on the right of the VTC player. Monitor resolution needs to be set to at least 1024 by 768 to view the entire movie.

2. IF you you have an older CD and a CD freezes when playing movies, you may need to download the latest VTC PC player. This file will need to be Unzipped. (click here to download a trial version of Winzip).

3. If the VTC player hangs when launching a CD make sure the these folders have Read/Write access: c:\WINDOWS or c:\WINNT. To do this highlight the folder and check its properties. Select the security tab and ensure the necessary boxes are checked for Read/Write access.

4 If the VTC player disappears when loading, try disabling McAfee or Norton Anti-Virus (if you have these) and try again (remember to enable these straight after).

MAC Training CD Users:

1. To play a movie you need to either double click a movie link, or highlight a link and click the play button on the right of the VTC player. Monitor resolution needs to be set to at least 1024 by 768 to view the entire movie.

2. IF you you have an older CD and a CD freezes when playing movies, you may need to download the correct VTC player:

Mac OS X VTC Player

Mac OS 9 VTC Player

When the VTC Player is clicked, download it to your desktop. If you do not have it already, you will need a software similar to StuffIt Expander to unstuff the player.

3. In some cases you may need to turn the Virtual Memory OFF on an OS 9 system (although this is very rare). To find the virtual memory, go to the Apple menu. Go to the Control Panel and in the Memory area set Virtual Memory to OFF.

4. If you have an older cd (before 2000) it may not work with the new VTC Player. You may need a patch for this. Simply email us with the date of purchase and short description of the problem and we will send you the patch.

PC VTC Online University Users:

1. There are two ways in which to view the online university: Either by downloading quicktime or using the a standalone player called the VTC Player (click here to download) Once this player is clicked, save it to your desktop. This file will need to be Unzipped. (click here to download a trial version of Winzip)

2. Please enable cookies within your web browser window. To do this, consult the help section of the browser application and search for "cookies"

3. If you have a problem viewing web content from VTC, It may help if you delete your temporary Internet files on your we browser. To do this in Internet Explorer:

Click on Tools > Internet Options > Click on the General Tab > Click the Delete Files button and the box to Delete Offline Content as well > Hit the OK button.

You may also want to delete your cookies as well. For other browsers consult the web browser application's help menu for how to delete temporary Internet files and cookies.

4. Microsoft Windows Automatic Updates: After installing a windows updates you may need to update your system's QuickTime software:

Open control panel > double click QuickTime icon > In the QuickTime settings drop down box, click Update check > click "Update and install additional QuickTime software radio button and click the update button > to stop this happening in the future you can check "check for Updates Automatically" > then exit.

5. If the streaming in the VTC player is blurry or distorted check that your hardware acceleration is set to full as this player needs a full rate to perform at its best:

a. right click on your desktop and select properties
b. click the advanced button
c. select the troubleshoot tab and slide the hardware acceleration slider to full
d. click apply and apply.

We suggest at least 6MB video memory.

8. Monitor resolution needs to be set to at least 1024 by 768 to view the entire movie.

Mac VTC Online University Users:

1. There are two ways in which to view the online university (both ways you will need QuickTime 6 or higher installed) :

Either by downloading quicktime or using the a standalone player called the VTC Player

Mac OS 9 VTC Player

When the VTC Player is clicked, download it to your desktop. If you do not have it already, you will need a software similar to StuffIt Expander to unstuff the player.

To play a movie you need to either double click a movie link, or highlight a link and click the play button on the right of the VTC player.

2. Please enable cookies within your web browser window. To do this, consult the help section of the browser application and search for "cookies"

3. If you are experiencing problems viewing web content from VTC this may be avoided by deleting your cache:

- deleting the cache via Safari:
a. Open the browser
b. Highlight Safari on the menu bar and choose empty cache.
(to clear the cache, cookies, history and download windows simply select reset Safari)

- deleting the cache via Internet Explorer:
a. Click on Preferences.
b. click on web browser (on the left)
c. select the advanced button
d. select the "empty now" button within cache
e. click OK
(you may also like to delete you cookies as well)

4. Ensure QuickTime is running correctly - If you have QuickTime 7 installed and this is not working correctly, you may want to try an earlier version. You can download older versions of QuickTime from here. To download QuickTime 6 here.

To install QuickTime correctly, choose the minimum installation type and leave MIME settings to their default setting.

5. QuickTime may be interrupted by firewalls. for further info on this please click here. If you employ the use of a Firewall (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, Tiny Firewall, Brickhouse, etc) please ensure these and router settings are open to the following:

a. VTC Player and QuickTime Player

b. *.vtc.com

c. ports 80 and 3306

d. TCP

e. Grant incoming and outgoing or to and from access to the following IP addresses:

66.160.128.70
66.160.128.73
66.160.128.75
66.160.128.76
66.160.128.80
66.160.128.81
66.160.128.82
66.160.128.94

6. Monitor resolution needs to be set to at least 1024 by 768 to view the entire movie.

7. If the VTC player throws out a permission error when attempting to launch, ensure the user account has permission granted to the VTC Player if application limitations are set within System Preferences. When this is added, the Player will not appear in applications, only other.

When added, the VTC Player will not appear in Applications; it will appear in Other.
